You have to use the right combination of the proper seals AND the correct washers (when required.) Your 68, if it is the original case and cooler, requires 3 thick washer and the proper seal. The proper seal for this era is thicker than the late seal which you may have been sold. I'm sending you a copy of the FAQ which you should study to see what you actually need for the parts actually in your engine.
