As I picked up my mom from work I decided to manually rattle my tires as I waited in the parking lot and found that the drivers side top arm attached to the torsion bar did not move in and out (good) but did move front and back a bit ! ouch ! Bad bearings ? Worn arm ? Well after I picked my mom up I went to the junkyard and pulled two arms and the torsion bar just in case. I am planning to get the bearings too. How do i do this , is the 'bushing' that holds the bearing pressed in or screwed in? Do I need a puller? I just packed one in my car for just in case. This arm moves alot , like almost a 1/4 inch back and forth. Has anyone seen this ? I never noticed this and for the past two years that i had the car, I thought the bumping sound after every little road imperfection was caused by the balljoints. I'm pretty sure the bumping sound that I inherited was this damaged Arm or bearing on the driver side torsion bar. Can someone help me ? Will I break the bearing ? If I get the bearing out , I will find a source at a industrial bearing supply I live near by, they can probably order it from Germany. I will post the source. Please do not tell me it is horribly hard to remove with a puller and that I will break the bearing as I pull it out!!!! I wish to fix it this weekend.
