The best procedure is to cut out the decayed metal, grind the remaining rust to bare metal, weld in replacement metal, and paint. => Is there a source for the OE tar board material? Nope. => Is ok to put undercoating>aluminim tape>undercoating => to repair the rust hole? I can't imagine that this would accomplish anything useful. => If no tar board how about undercoat>sound mat> carpet?? Not to repair the rust. The function of undercoating is primarily sound-deadening, not metal protection. It has no structural strength, and can promote rust if it gets loose. => I was wondering where my water leak could be coming from. There are many possibilities. Clean up the interior, dry everything out, close the doors and windows and get on it with the garden hose. Start with the fresh air vents and windshield. Look inside for drips.
