Well......my trip to visit Jim Adney and recover my new 66 Squareback was a great success. As Jim already mentioned, I had a friend from work, Chad, the "volunteered" to drive out with me and was a great help loading the 66 and the other treasures. Was even a bigger help keeping me alert during the 14 hours of driving roundtrip. We left at 5:00am on Saturday and made it to Jim's by 11:30 or so. Of course, it was only 10:30 WI time. Forgot about the hour time change, so we got there a bit ahead of schedule (sorry about that Jim 8^)). The removal from the "shed" it had been stored in was easier than it looked and after pulling it onto the trailer with the truck, we strapped her down and headed back to Jims for a bit of his "house special" fresh baked bread. I wnat the recipe! We headed back east about 3:30pm and got back about 11:30pm. Had the Square unloaded and pushed into me driveway by midnight. As Jim also mentioned, I picked up a front beam for my Fasty and a new floor pan for her. Need to keep her happy so that she does not start to feel neglected. 8^). The floor pan will save me lots of time over trying to refurbish the rusted areas on my existing pan. Plus I can get to the pan refurbishment now and leave the Fasty body on her existing pan while I continue the rustoration of the body. All and all it was a great trip. Always good to see Jim and to talk VWs. Plus it is the rare opportunity to see more than a couple of T3s in one place at the same time. With the 66 on the trailer in front of Jim's house, there were 4 Squares within 50 feet of each other!! I took lots of pictures and will be adding them to my website later tonight. Nothing fancy, but wanted to give people a sneak peak. Would do it now, but it too nice outside to sit at the computer any longer.....need to go give the Square a bath and see what I have gotten myself into............maybe she will tell me her name... Later, John Jaranson '71 FI Auto Fasty (Jane) '66 Stock Square (??????) http://hometown.aol.com/jaransonT3 P.S. Thanks for the compliments Jim. Will keep pushing to improve those Fords. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
