The guy I spoke to felt this was a good idea. A lot of paints won't stick to other kinds of paints, or won't stick to an earlier coat that has been fully dried/cured. You should get info from the paint manufacturer, because your painter won't be responsible for what you do after he does his part. I hear that the trick to 2-tone rims is to prime them, paint the first color and let it tack up, then roll a heavy paper cylinder that will drop down into the seam between the rim and the center disk. The paper should be long to go maybe a foot longer than 1 time around, and you should just paperclip or tape the overlap to keep it stable. Then you spray the second color while this "fence" (which is about 12" high) keeps the overspray off the other part. Remove the "fence" and let both colors dry. I've never done this, but it seems like it should work. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
