Ah, I see the problem. The early style pump has all three hose connections on the end, but there is one extra stub on the side which only looks like a 4th hose connection. I'm actually not sure what it is, but you don't make any connection to it; just leave that clear sleeve on it when you install the pump. That 4th large fitting, is a vent. I have seen these pumps on the car. They are a Very, very early pump. The late model pumps have a liquid cooled motor. (gasoline circulates thru the motor) I don't think the early ones did. This vent was to keep any fuel that leaked around the pump shaft from getting to the motor.
