Thanks for the responses so far, but the situation isn't quite what Richard thought. He has now had a look himself and he says it's the upper frame of the door that is strengthened internally, with an inner channelling that has holes punched where the door frame has, and the whole thing is neatly spot-welded together - he described it as 'factory' in appearance. The reinforcement panel idea was obviously misinterpreted from the mechanic's description to him over the phone. It sounds to me like a rollover reinforcement, or something to strengthen the screen area in case of animal impact or similar. I've never seen anything like that, and the opinion is that the stock window framing wouldn't have fitted with that in there either. Do they do anything like that for Moose impact in Sweden? This came from Australia, so it may have gone out on a late Type3 maybe. He's bringing it to Stanford Hall on Sunday, so I shall try to look more closely and get the odd picture. Dave.
