Sounds like you are describing similar headlight setup that the Euro-spec Golf 1 and 74-up Beetles use, with all the fasteners and springs etc. I have a pair of these in the garage and I'll snap a pic of them tomorrow. I dont wanna bother with that now as the garage is 100 meters down the street and it's dark (just past midnight). A Hella unit cost $50 at a FLAPS here, this is not the replaceable 7" unit but the Golf/Beetle specific unit. Cheaper are available, but not from Hella nor Bosch. This is what the unit looks like: http://www.csp-shop.de/cgi-bin/shop2/shop_main.cgi?func=det&wkid=54458879368&rub1=Electric&rub2=Headlamps,Bug&artnr=12039a&pn=0 Price is DM 44 at Custom & Speed parts.
