You should be replying to type3@vwtype3.org, I just joined this list and had to set up that address as the default "reply to" address for this email list, this is set in different places, depending on what email program you use. > So with that said my second question....does anyone know how to remove the > steering wheel on a 71 squareback? how do i get the horn ring off to get to > the bolt that holds the steering wheel on? the bentley manual is no help. You can take the steering wheel off without taking the horn ring off if you have a socket that will fit. First you have to *carefully* take off the Wolfsburg badge in the middle, by levering at it, then you will see 3 screws. These hold the horn ring on. If you do have to take the horn ring off, undo these screws, but be carefull of the springs (3) underneath the horn ring, so they don't get lost. The nut in the middle is a 26MM. After the nut is off, and before you take the steering wheel off, draw a line from the steering wheel centre to the spline, so you can put the steering wheel back on straight.
