You need a second person to turn the key while you check the timing with a timing light. In a private email to me you also mentioned what I believe is the cold start valve. For now, I would just unplug this, because you seem to have too much gas, and this MIGHT be caused by the CSV being wired up wrong. Disconnecting it may help. If so, you will have a better idea of what the problem is. If the CSV is wired up correctly, unplugging it will make absolutely NO difference if the temp is above freezing. If you would be willing to tell us what part of the world you are in there might be someone near you who could help. It is usually much easier to do troubleshooting like this if you have someone more knowledgable to give you pointers and who can inspect things first hand. While it's certainly admirable to want to sort things out for yourself, a helping hand can go a long ways toward working your way up the learning curve. - ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
