By twist-on I mean that in order to remove the mirror you twist it clockwise (or counter-clockwise, I forget which.) It mounts on a base that mates with and clamps the mirror stem. To replace the mirror (or put a newer mirror in it's place) you twist the mirror onto this base until it 'locks' into place. Judging by your 361 part # I'm willing to bet you have a squareback mirror and judging by the ivory stem I'd say it's a 68 or later. Judging by the experience of others who say that 68 had no day/night function I'd say yours is the 69 model. It all makes sense to me...In 66 when the fresh air knobs and various trim bits went to chrome instead of ivory the mirror was changed to match. It stayed this way (according to my theory) until 68. In 68 the seat belts had an ivory covering over them and the chrome dash bits were gone. If the chrome mirror stayed it wouldn't match! And so the story goes.
