Glad to see you will have an awesome Type 3! I can tell this Type IV stuff is catching on here in the US. In fact VW Trends and Bug Me Video has just completed a weekend of video and photos of the Type IV engine. Bug Me Video will be making an instructional video on the tear down and Build up of a Type IV engine. I will be doing a series of articles for VW Trends concerning the Type IV engines. We will even have a gathering of Type IV conversion enthusiast at a Southeastern USA show at Rockingham Dragway in NC this next Oct. We have even started our own online club(which I haven't had time to work on lately) www.sevwc.com/type4.htm Kathy Jacobs VW Trends Southeast Editor at Large South Eastern VW Club www.sevwc.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Glavas, Steve" <Steve.Glavas@icn.siemens.com> To: <type3@vwtype3.org> Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2001 10:16 PM Subject: [T3] It's alive! and a sleeper... > I posted this to the Type 4rum, so delete it if you've read it.... > > I just got back from the shop, and I get the square tomorrow. I will be driving the best beast on the road. Everyone who comes into the shop thinks this bad @%% conversion is da bomb! "Dude, he's got a what?!? in there? 2.3 what?!?! and sway bars?!? That's gonna rock!" is commonly heard by the guys doing the work. I've already gotten another customer bit by the bug. He just bought a 914 engine for his beetle. And the shop owner keeps showing my beast off to everyone. > > It just barely fits. I'm gonna have to cut the air cleaner element down a bit to make it fit for now. For now. I will change it. Then I will track someone down with a welder and drop the drive line 1/2" or less. That close, I tell ya. Any San Jose fellas want to check it out and help me with the welding? email me at: > steveglavas@email.com <mailto:steveglavas@email.com> > > I don't know for certain, but I think Webers are taller than Dells.
