Note that it is possible to put the clips in the molding the wrong way, turned 90 degrees from the correct position. If you do this the clips will not stay in the holes in the body. Yes, there is a small black rubber gasket that goes in each hole in the body. This gasket looks like a witch hat and is avaliable at all VW stores, because it is the same that is used on Beetles.
