None of their metric socket or wrench sets had a 13mm in it, so > I just left it. I've found that weird too. I assume the Far East companies making the cheaper sets are catering for the home market. I've found 12mm exhaust nuts on the M8 studs in 'modern' VWs. As Henrik points out, the old standard was for 14mm heads on M8. My '59 beetle has quite a lot of M8 bolts with 14mm heads (eg wing/fender and bumper mountings). Dave.
