The bump stops are a part of the suspension -- and a VERY integral part of the suspension in today's cars! They are made to compress which is why they are made of squishy material like rubber and not of some harder substance like a urethane or metal. I wouldn't recommend removing them as they are a last defense against damage should your car suddenly drop down, like from a deep pot hole or big bump.
