Is it just me? I'd have thought that sand-blasting and powder coating an air
filter was a rather bad idea, what with all the oil that's absorbed into the
fibres and the grit and paint that is likely to get mixed up in there?

I guess it's just you. The air filter was sand-blasted and powder coated.
There was a little fiber in the top of the air filter, but not much. That
part was left alone, as it was internal and not visible to the eye. One pours
oil into the oil bath and then installs the air cleaner. The air cleaner has
one hole for each of two carburetors. It looks super now that it's back on
the Type 34.
