I can remember when Volvo only produced the PV544 and this was only available in
LHD despite Sweden driving on the left which at the time I thought was odd.  As
for American cars, well, especially before the 1970s, they were usually
available with RHD (although RHD ones were sometimes made in Canada).

Anyway, fortunately VW in Germany have always produced vehicles in both LHD and
RHD (regrettably with the exception of the 914 and some tasty special versions
of the Golf ).  And., Type3s and even the Type 34 have always been available in
both LHD and RHD.
