This is reasonable, but first, if your FI is 70-3, turn the key ON and just push the throttle from the engine end. Do you hear the little clicks as the injectors fire? If not, crank the engine slightly to another position and try again. Also, get in the car, turn the key ON. Do you hear a click and then another click ~1 sec later? If not, the FI system is not getting proper power. > 2. Pull a plug and do the same....see if there is a > sparking jumping... An inductive timing light will tell you this info really quickly. Just clip it around each SP wire in turn. > Right now I really thinking of shelving the whole F.I. > system and buyin some carbs.....I think it will be > easier NOW and in the LONG RUN.....all thoughts are > welcome and appreciated... It may seem easier, but it's fairly expensive, and most people are surprised by how difficult it really is to actually get everything adjusted to the point where it is all adjusted and working correctly. For instance, do you understand that the jets in the carbs will probably not be right for your engine and you will have to spend quite a bit of time acquiring alternate parts and trying them out to get everything working right. In the long run, the FI is more reliable and will run better unless you are building an engine much bigger than stock. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
