Can someone please help me to understand what the hell has just gone wrong with my 71 auto non FI Notchback, i was driving along a motorway today at 80kph, i hadnt been driving that long, but it was around 2 in the afternoon, the engine shouldnt have been getting too warm. All of a sudden, i lost the accelarator, the engine was still running, but no response from the engine, i then pulled to the side of the road (in the middle of an on ramp and the motorway itself, not the best bloody place) where the car proceeded to die completely, tried restarting, starter was cranking over, to no avail, even if i held the accelerator flat to the floor while cranking, left to cool, tried again 45 mins later, still wouldnt fire, checked points were opening and closing, they were, checked fuel level, just over 1/4 tank, checked oil and AFT, both fine, checked generator heat, little warm, but touchable, poured a little fuel directly down carbs, still wouldnt fire, it got a new motor just last friday (transplanted from 71 sqback manual, to my auto notch). Its currently parked at the place where the transplant was conducted. If anyone has any ideas on what might have happened, or a solution, please help me out. Keep Dubbin All!
