I was out of the dealers by '82, so I am not familiar with this
transmission. I am pretty sure that all the ratios were different, including
the final drive ratio. It has always been lower on the T-2, because of the
extra weight, and wind load. I would bet that 5th is not much higher than
our 4th gear overall, (when you take into consideration the final drive.) I
have never heard of a bus that would run close to 100mphlike our T-3's.

I owned an '82 bus, but is was a 1600cc water cooled diesel. That is not a
fair comparison, as it had trouble doing 65 mph. I didn't keep it long, but
I made good money on it when I got rid of it. Paid $1800 and got $4000 from
the dealer when I traded it in '88 for a new Dodge Aries wagon.

Wouldn't it be easier to teach your wife to drive a manual trans??? ^_^
