If you set the fan up to blow in instead of out I think that would work 
better. You would need to put the filter on the fan, preferably on the 
inside, but this would mean that you would not be painting the fan. 
You could use more than 1 fan.

The real bonus is that the tent will now be pressurized, which 
means that dirt cannot be drawn in through gaps in the tent. Real 
paint booths have fans on both inlet and outlet, but they are 
adjusted to give a slight positive pressure inside.
