I suspect those side panels are the late ones for 72-3s which have latches for the rear seat back. Those panels have (round?) cutouts for the latches to stick thru. You might be able to anchor the retractors there, but the retractors themselves would have to live somewhat higher up, where they could be out of the way of the seat back.
