I have a 72 Squareback that the original ignition switch would start the car fine, but you would have to move the switch back to the run position in order to keep the car running. Even though the problem was not that serious I decided to replace the switch. The new switch lasted about 6 months before it reached the point that it would not work in the start position. Not learning my lesson I went back and bought another switch from the same parts dealer. This switch lasted about 4 months. My questions is that I'm wandering if there is another problem with the electrical system or are the switch's that I purchased poor quality? I believe they were manufactured by Meyer or something like that. It also looks like it has aluminum contacts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
