There certainly were differences in the FI systems delivered to CA, 
but the brains and temp sensors were the same. I think the main 
difference is that CA got EGR on some cars that 49 state cars did 
not.

While a type 4 brain might work with a type 3 system, I would not 
expect it to work well, or properly. I suspect that doing this just to 
get the pot would be a losing battle.

Is there some reason that you think you want a brain with the pot 
on it?
