Makes me wonder if mine has a similar, although not so extreme, problem. > O.k., so I've looked in Bentley (Automatic Transmission, page 28, > figure 10-25). I don't remember how this attaches, but I'll bet Russ does. I think it's likely that there is some kind of pinch clamp arrangement which has worked loose on yours and then wore itself some extra clearance. You might need to get someone to build up some material with weld and then file it to fit again. Let us know what you find. I'm pretty sure the bolt you need is just a standard M8 x 1.25. The thing to watch is that the pan is not distorted where the bolts go thru. I usually work out something to push the pan back where previous mechanics have overtightened the pan bolts and bent the pan. A pan that has been deformed at the bolt holes will be very hard to seal. BTW, the same thing applies to the engine sump plate. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
