The FI system really doesn't have much in the way of idle stabilization. Modern FI systems have whole subsystems just to deal with this, but ours do not. All we can do is just let in a fixed amount of air and hope that this holds the idle speed steady. If the speed gets wildly out of line our FI will respond one way or another, but it doesn't do anything at all between about 600 and 1400 RPM. I think what you and I noticed was the system bumping into the 600 RPM limit. On modern engines, they have a little pulsed contraption that senses engine RPM and pulses in more or less air as the speed changes to hold the speed constant. This idle stabilizer works over the whole range of idle speeds, and is not just an "out of limits" sensor. In short, I think you're system is probably normal now. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list or mailto:help@vwtype3.org
