 These rubber pieces were to keep the dip stick from rattling in the tube.

 Are you lucky enough to not have the spare tire in its "well". If it is
out,
 I would rather cut a hole in the tire well to access the latch. Otherwise,
 you can destroy the round plate below the bumper, and go in that way.
