[T3] Vent window seals

Is it safe for me to assume that the rivet at the pivot point in the vent
window must be drilled out in order to completely remove the vent window
from it's frame? It seems it must be done in order to get the seal into the
frame. Am I correct on this? Please advise.

Subject: [T3] Re. Door trim & scraper assembly

Don't buy the aluminum beading that goes around the outside of the door
windows. It has to be modified to fit and it is difficult to get it
right.
Carefully remove your old beading and remove the old scraper by
carefully
drilling out the rivets. Polidh the aluminum with a good polish like
semichrome or a a paste made for aluminum. Pop rivet on new scrapers.
Bus
scrapers probably will work. The pop off side of the rivet should go to
the
inside of the car. After the rivets are in they must be flatened with a
flat
punch against an anvil
or a hammer head.
For the inside bus scrapers will work but save the metal wire clip
from
your old
scraper . You will need to cut new slots in the scraper so the old wire
clip
will fit.
IMPORTANT. When you remove the aluminum trim that goes around the door
reach up inside the door and compredd the clips with needle nose pliars
so
the trim will come out undamaged. Save the clips. When you start to
reinstall
the trim push a clip into a hole until it starts to come through then
reach
up into the door wnd put a punch or an all through the clip and pull it
into
place. The clip is
V shaped . This is much easier than trying to push it.
If you have more questions please e-mail me. I just finished doing my

doors completely. Also clean and relubricate your window regulators.
Make
sure the
chanel at the bttom of the window that the regulator runs in is smooth
and
free of rust. Lubricate it also. If it is rough or rusty polish it with
[ wet
or dry ] sand paper.
