Hi guys, I'm Damian from Australia with a Type III Squareback... That i have restored this is my first car and I think that its the best project car that anyone could have as a first car... I recently purchased a Monza 4 tip stlye exhaust for the beast but now it runs like crap since i put it on.. I am going to try and tune the engine to the exhaust tommorrow... But wanted to know if anyone knows the right timing and valve clearance for my motor and exhaust.. My motor specs are as follows: 1585cc Porsche Grind Cam Single port heads Dual Solex 32PDSIT Caburettors I also found an email suggesting that my valve clearances be .004" for intake and .006" for exhaust.. Is this right or what is going to give me best performance.. Also timing what should that be with a porsche grind cam and the exhaust?? I have no clue what is right or what is wrong I just know that I tuned the engine with the clearances above with the previous extractor setup and it ran pretty good but now I am curious to know why it does not run as well.. A friend told me that backpressure has alot to do with it so I thought to myself, the new exhaust couldn't have changed the clearances could have it..??? This is another thing that I am not sure of... I rang Volksking a Volkswagen specialist around the corner from me and he said to do the valve clearances both intake and exhaust at .004" so I will try that, and also I will stuff around with the timing and see if things improve.. But in the meantime if anyone knows what will work well with my configuration please please let me know.. Regards and deepest thanks in advance Damian Moscatt ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
