If it is in all gears, it sounds like a pinion shaft bearing. Only makes
noise under load. Try checking it on a down grade, with light throttle. They
will go for a long time making this noise. Also, check the tranny grease. It
should be full to the bottom of the fill hole, or no more than the first
knuckle of your finger below the hole.

Check the upper torsion arm/sway bar for too much end play. I think the
Bentley shows how to adjust this. If this is loose, the car will have a
tendency to wander in a cross wind. But mostly, they do anyway due to the
lightness of our frontend.
