Yes, Jim.  I'm virtually certain there were no automatic Type 3 panel vans
because the heavy duty suspension was the earlier swing axle design.

However, there just may have been some special deals that Volkswagen may have
done with a big volume corporate purchaser but I doubt it.  On the other hand,
the owner of a 1966 Australian-built Type 3 panel van only 25km away from where I
live has just replaced his panel van's original floorpan, suspension, gearbox and
motor with that from an automatic Fasback.
