Ola Toby and fellow Type IIIrs......... :+)........... (Warning, I am writing this after 5 shots of taquila and a few beers, and yes I am still in Mexico City)......... Ok, I use the Mitsubishi Alternators from the RX7 for my alternator mod........... that is what the Mitsu part of my message is about. There are several types of this alternator that work. There is the 50 amp, the 55 amp, and the 75 amp. They all have built in voltage regulators and they all can be fashioned to work. The 55 amp one seems to be the most plentiful, and bolt right up after some braket removal. There are 2 types of these alternators.... internal fan and fan bolted on right behind the pully. There are about 5 or 6 different part numbers... and the good news is that they all can be gotten at junk yards for as little as $20. What I need to do is get all of the part numbers assigned to the proper models and then look at each one and how they can be used on the Type III. I have used the 55 amp model and the 75 amp model with succes. What Toby and I need to compare notes on is the best way to secure these little beauties for best performance. I use a rather simple bracket and he uses a very well thought out mounting system. I lean more toward his mounting system. Bye for now.....Pat@volksclocks( yes I fix them and speedos too) ------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe? mailto:type3-request@vwtype3.org, Subject: unsubscribe
