Most T3s on the road now have an aftermarket exhaust system on them. These systems consist of a header which connects to the heat exchangers (big tubelike things on either side of the bottom of your engine) and a muffler that bolts to the end of the header. On the stock system the header and muffler are more or less combined into one piece. The problems with most aftermarket systems are, (1) as already mentioned, no provision for heat, (2) they are noisier than the stock system and (3) bloody ugly. They do give you a bit more horsepower and are cheaper. I think that Jim has a stock muffler arrangement in his inventory. As far as the books go, get the Bentley and be happy. You can buy it new or check your local used book stores. It regularly comes up for auction on Ebay as well.
