Try from 3_1 2 268 738 ;-) Must be VW Parts lot getting lazy then. 361 2 200 959 is 5th May 1971, and doesn't have any of the '72 changes. 68,000 is a heck of a lot of production before the end of July. Do you think these were stocks being made ready for the new model year? I've found odd production plates in late models around the model year change over, which made me think they do stockpile. Have you got this car now, Jim? If so, I'd love to know the production plate numbers - on the left of the front panel (from in front), painted over. Does anyone have a late '71 around chassis number 3_1 2 250 000 ? BTW, where's this info coming from, Jim. Does the microfiche have something the parts book doesn't? Worth knowing. Dave.
