I always liked the plastic shields that came with the later VW wipers and used your same idea. A few years ago I fixed my neighbor's wiper motor on his Honda. I don't remember the details now, but there was no such shield and water which worked it way down the shaft found its way thru the gearbox into the motor. When I opened up the motor I found it was FULL of water. I cleaned it out, got it working, and drilled drain holes in a couple of places so this would not happen again. I wish I had thought of film cans or just plain nylon washers! Still, the OE Honda setup failed in 2 years, while my fix was still going ten years later when they sold the car. - Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ------------------------------------------------------------------- Pitch in!
