It sure sounds like your left idle circuits are messed up. The first thing I would check is the electro cut-off jet. Power the ignition circuit and listen for the jet to click when you remove the wire to it. You can also pull it out and look for crud. Maybe even shoot some cleaner down there. Check the advance with a timing light and see if it advances evenly up to about 30 degrees. You can mark your timing pulley with something to assist. I have used white Elmers glue and marked the max advance by counting notches (I think it's 10 or 12 deg. per notch).
