I don't know what can be done to fix this. Are there oversize case savers? Were you using 8mm studs? If so, did you realize that the torque spec is different for them? If you torque the 8mm studs to the 10mm specs, the actual tension on the studs will be higher, which would make them likely to pull out. 8mm torque specs can be found in the manuals for the late Beetles where these studs were used. The 8mm studs are better and if properly used are less likely to pull out, so I'd stick to them if possible.
