Per Lindgren, I have the front door handle from a 1974 Beetle. So, to answer your question as to whether rear door handles from a Type 4 would fit a Beetle, I tried the Beetle handle in the front door of my 1969 four-door VW 411. It worked perfectly, in every respect. Then I tried one of my 411's back door handles (a blank one with no lock cylinder) in the 411's front door. It also worked perfectly. And, the door could be locked from the inside but could not, of course, be locked from the outside. So, if you can get hold of a 4-door Type 4 back door blank handle, try it out. I'm sure it would work. I have a spare one. Regards, Simon Glen Toowoomba, Australia.
