Hello all! Thanks for your thoughts on converting to carbs. It sounds like I should stick with the FI...not like I was looking forward to dropping the engine again to install carbs! I did a little highway driving in the car this past weekend and once it warms up it is rather smooth (though still surges at idle, and at speed a bit). I think I'd just be happy with a little more high speed power...my 74 old SuperBeetle has scads of power with just the stock carb, and I guess I tend to compare every other VW I've owned to my "trusty old friend". :-) BTW, any of you in the Northern VA area (my current location) or NYC area (moving there at the end of March)? I thought there was a guy named Mike on this list who lived in Brooklyn... Someone mentioned an injector test...how can I check my injectors to see if they're clogged or leaking? Also, someone mentioned the "Idiot Guide"...the version I used to have didn't have anything about the type III, though it was rather old...do the newer versions have information on diagnosing the D-Jet system? My friend has a D-Jet manual from Bosch, though if I were to perform every test in that book I'd be working on the engine for a month or so and probably wear out my little volt meter. Many thanks in advance! -Doug 73 Fasty, now with type III side marker lights (yesterday's project) douglas_brashear@amsinc.com ------------------------------------------------------------------- Too much?
