[T3] exhaust dont fit

I just got off my rusty old stock exhaust, the thing took two days to come
off!

I got my new empi manzo 4 tip header system up and was trying to make it fit
and found the flanges that go to the heater exchange's did not line up
correctly. I took a quick measurement and found the stock to be aprox 27.5"
across and my empi to be 27" across. I looked for a way to adjust the heater
boxes but they looked fairly stationary,

Would the "Brotherhood" say that I have the wrong and or defective part?
