First, the ignition points have nothing to do with my problems, as I always get good spark on all 4 spark plug wires. (ignition points themselves are also in good shape). I am focusing on the FI trigger points in the dist. base. I have heard of intermittent no-spark problems with the magnetic pick-up arrangements, too. People having problems, going back to conventional points, and everything goes back to normal. I have also read somewhere that the magnetic set-ups don't include the small #3 retard that is built into the conventional ignition system.
