The 924 has a lot of VW parts in the dashboard. The switches are all Golf 1, the heater controls are Golf 1, ign. lock etc, and as you know the rear axle is type1/3 IRS. It's pretty amazing. The car was supposedly going on the market as an VW/Porsche 914 replacement but the big honchos at VW backed out of the cooperation with Porsche so far into the development that it "had" to go into production anyway. VW held the responsibility of this part, and let the car be built at the Audi factory in Neckarsulm.
