The German VW magazine "VW Speed" had an article on the Type 3 convertible,
and the consencus was the VW and Karmann built 11 verts between 1960 and
1965. These cars were of course used for testing, but VW was never satisfied
with the body shell's rigidity, so the project was eventually buried.
