A couple of comments from my experience with my 66 Square armrests and door panels...... There are two types of z- arm rests: an early style that is one-piece with a molded pocket for the door pull and no chrome trim strip and a later style that is actually three pieces (lower section and door pull, upper section, and padded armrest) and it has a chrome trim strip. There are also two types of door trim panels that go with these: the early ones which are actually three(!) pieces (panel below armrest, panel above armrest, and a narrow panel (about 2 inches) across the top of the door) and the later ones that are one piece. I believe that the early styles are '61 - '65 and the later styles are '66 +. Not sure when this style ended. I confirmed most of this by reviewing the literature on Everett's site (www.thesamba.com) Also, I have successfully remade the door panels for me '66 using 1/8" hardboard from Home Depot and vinyl that I got at an automotive interior supply distributor. I am having the heat pleats simulated with embroidery by Deanna. I will let you know how it turns out. I had the old panels to use as a pattern which is a great help. I still have them if anyone is interested in using them as templates. Hope this helps. Later, John Jaranson '71 FI Auto Fasty (Jane) '66 Squareback (???)
