Pete, et al: Here is a link to a pic. Not my pic, but one on the samba. I've only had her 2 days so far. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/htmlscript/gallery.mv?search+19002.jpg It was built in 4-73 according to drivers side door frame sticker...found a foil sticker under hood (80% destroyed) but able to make out Sumatra Green. Rebuilt original engine I believe, automatic and FI, also AC which appears to work great (missing one louver piece). Heater is cranking well also, which is welcome. Some rust in battery area, but so far that looks about like it for rust...we shall see. It has been a dry climate car since birth. Drivers door is letting water leak into interior of door, so this needs fixing ASAP. Particularly here in sodden Portland... Looks like drivers door was replaced at some point early on (orange paint under some chipped green)...interior needs some work. Some mechanicals... Split in headliner near rear hatch, vinyl in rear area totally shot, but overall not to bad...after my expectations of a 71k car were dashed, I am beginning to warm to her again. Needs a serious cleaning, and some replacement of interior vinyl and carpet, etc. Most electrical is working, except: clock, rear defrost, radio (sapphire 13?) powers on, but no sound?, dome light, also there are some missing interior accessory pieces... more to come... jim >>Your killing me here, what did you get?
