So let me get this straight: I disconnect the plastic inline connector and hook my VOM to the wire TO the sensor and ground? Will do. Although, I have a feeling I'm going to have to wait until I get into this jam again. However, Keith's suggestion to disconnect it to get it to restart is useful. (If in fact the temp sensor is the problem). > Your relays click normally, right, and you can hear the fuel pump running >when you turn on the key? Yes, my relay clicks normally. I check it twice every time I start the car. Click, and then click. 1.5 seconds on the money. Never fails. I had Keira turn the car on and, with my head under the front, listened to the steady and certain hum of the fuel pump. I am absolutely certain that these things are working properly according to these indicators. My timing is good, my dwell is good, my valves are good, I have spark at all four wires. So I want to check the temp sensor, and, eliminating that, I'll pull out the distributor and look at the trigger contacts. I want to get one thing figured at a time. ********************** Keith Park at topnotch@nycap.rr.com wrote: > HOWEVER, Take a clip lead and ground the wire from the harness when your > problem occurs, if the engine is warm and it starts up now the sensor is > bad. Ok: what? Let me get this straight: Ground the wire from the harness... Do I disconnect the inline connector and then connect the ground wire in place of where the wire to the sensor would be? My electrical knowledge is primitive to say the least (I am learning, though..) In an earlier post you wrote > ground the head sensor wire where >it connects to the sensor, this will mimick a hot condition and it will >start fine if already hot. Which seems to say to run the ground wire directly from the sensor...which I can't get to. Sorry so confused. I'm sure this is a simple task. Just want to make sure I do it right. I don't care for fiddling with those brittle wires too much.
