<x-charset iso-8859-1>They ('72 on Fastbacks) certainly leak into the foam between the inner and outer skins at the rear quarter. Mine had rusted through the drain tube too, and soaked the foam. I can't see the drain pipe from the box behind the vents working so perfectly that water can't collect in the box. I've not seen quite what's in there, though I have some spare outer sections for when I have to find out! Another way into the 'boot' (rear trunk) is through the rear screen rubber. There's a couple of drain holes near the corners in the seating of the rubber seal to let dip-primer paint flow out rather than pool there. This comes with some sealing tape over it, but tidy people among us might remove it when repainting. Doh! Then a leaking seal can let the water inside by the hinge. Dave.
