[T3] different no start prob

Hey all, haven't been havnt much fun lately. I cant get my car to start, let me give you all a run down of whats been happinen lately. I took the car in to the local shop (Lavere's VW, now in Walnut Creek,CA)after the car was bucking at low to medium applying of the throttle pedal, over medium it sortof blows through the problem and runs fine, but I have to either not put my foot on the gas or floor it.(I also needed the valves adjusted and figured I'd be lazy and let them doi both atthe same time. When I picked up the car, they explained that I needed to run a fuel pressure regulator with my faucet fuel pump(sorry, I neglected to mention that this is 1776 with 36 dells). I still hadnt gottten one on, the other day I went out to start it and all I heard was a THUMP, as my car sorta twitched, I hit the starter a couple more times with the same result each time. I have had this happen before and all I normally need to do is put the car in gear and push it a bit. Welllll, no dice this time, so I pushed it into
