I fitted a seal which came from type3detectives, but I guess it was WCM. What a load of plop! The corners aren't moulded, so the seal sticks out at the top, and I also had exhaust smells. I think they also sell the same seal section as a front bonnet/ hood seal as well. It's definitely worth trying to get a genuine VW one if you can. I fitted a nos one to my '68, and it fitted like it was made for the job.
