The intake air distributor with that hole can not accept the 5-pin 
throttle valve switch that he has, but of course there could be other 
holes.

I think the problem here is that this is a 72, albeit in a 69 body. I 
suspect his 72 vacuum retard developed a leak and stopped 
working. That could happen all of a sudden and would result in an 
increase in rpm.
